Boongket

Boongket, also known as the City of the Marshes, was a small city found near the center of the Sangmyung Valley. It was a part of the Eastern Province of Niman, and served primarily as a military stronghold.

Boongket was destroyed in 266 DHT during the Eastern Civil War when the Songkram rebels unleashed carnites upon the city.

The Fall of Boongket #

Boongket was a stronghold of Ganpoumi Fi power. Due to the swamp surrounding it, it was a very defensible location that held out against Songkram conquest so well that it was the last city in Niman to fall under assault during the Eastern Civil War. It was sieged for six months before the Songkram employed a new tactic.

The Songkram contacted the Priests of the Shifting Flesh for a quid pro quo. The Priests agreed and helped smuggle ten Sculptoris-infected slaves into the city's walls. The slaves mutated into carnites, overwhelming the city from within.

During the chaos, Songkram forces stormed the walls and managed to get inside and attempted to take control of the city. The damage caused by the carnites and the incendiary weaponry needed to stop them had done more damage than expected, and by the end of the battle most of the city lay in ruins. The Songkram decided to take what treasures they could and let the ruins stand as a reminder of what happened if people stood in the way of their conquest.
